Jacob is said to have died in 1906 in St. Louis, MO, but his wife calls herself a "widow" in the 1900 census, and I can't find Jacob in 1900.  The Jacob D. STROUP (æ 71, b. Nov 1828, SC) in the 1900 census of Missouri is Jacob Decatur STROUP, our subject's uncle.
