| *In the 1820 Census, the third column is
age class 16-18 and the fourth column is age class 16-25; therefore, any
individual in column three is duplicated in column four. By subtracting
the number in column three from the number in column four, you can create
an age class "19-25." |
Jacob's father died 1819/20, so he may have his younger siblings living
with him. Listed next to brother, Samuel STROOP, however, the list
was roughly alphabetized, so proximity on the list may not indicate geographic
proximity, beyond being in the same township.

A file submitted there cites the following:
| The Millerstown Ledger (Perry County Newspaper) reported:
"We record this week, the death of Mr. Jacob Stroop, uncle
of Mrs. William Goodman of this place, and Capt. Geo. Stroop
of the Tyrone Democrat, which took place at his residence at Ottowa, Illinois,
on the 11th of September, at the advanced age of 82 years. Mr. Stroop
moved from Perry county to Illinois about 20 years since, was married twice,
his first wife being Miss Loy, of this county, and the last, Mrs.
Littlejohn
nee Miss Carothers, of Carlisle; this lady died last June -- Many
of the old residents of Perry County will doubtless remember this gentleman.
His disease was disentery." |

I'm running across records for a Jacob Stroop SHUMAN, so there must be
a familial connection here somewhere (e.g., is John SHUMAN Jacob's
son-in-law?).
