Barack OBAMA, 44th President of the United States
descendant of Johann Pieter STRAUB, 1733 immigrant to Philadelphia, PA
"We are and always will be the United States of America." (4 Nov 2008, Grant Park, Chicago, IL)
Mr. STRAUB
Ms. __?__
NOTICE:  A descendant of Andrew S. STRAUB (Child-1 below) has undergone Y-chromosome DNA testing, which has proven that he is a descendant of Johann Pieter STRAUB, 1733 immigrant to Philadelphia (paternal grandfather of Andrew STRAUB, Founder of Freeburg).  I'm willing to subsidize similar DNA testing for a direct-male-line descendant of any of Andrew S. STRAUB's brothers (listed among the Children below).  Please see STRAUB Y-chromosome DNA Surname Project page for details.
Husband:  Mr. STRAUB — probably Andrew STRAUB, Founder of Freeburg
Y-DNA Haplogroup:  I1-AngloSaxon-5
Marriage:
Wife:  Ms __?__
Children:
These five presumed siblings moved to Marion Co., OH, ca. 1822:

1.  Andrew S. STRAUB / STROUB, b. ca. 12 Aug 1797, PA
2.  Joseph STRAUB / STROUB / STROUP, b. 1801, PA
3.  Benjamin STRAUB / STROUB / STROUP, b. 1802, PA
4.  Samuel STRAUB / STROUB, b. 1800-1806
5.  Susanna STRAUB, b. 1808/9, PA

Some descendants of these STRAUBs have an oral family tradition of being descended from the Founder of Straubstown (a.k.a., Freeburg).  Some descendants have other traditions, but each of these has been proven untrue.
