I cannot read what was originally in the relationship column for Alice.  Someone — in a different hand and with a different pen — has crossed out what was there and written "aunt" on top of it.  This bit of vandalism has cost us a valuable clue.  At the very least, whoever did this should have put a light line through the original word and written "aunt" above it, so the original word could still be read.  You would think I could make it out.  I mean, how many ways can a 21-yr-old female be related to a 41-yr-old man?  It's not daughter, granddaughter, stepdaughter, sister, or niece.  It looks vaguely like "Honale" or "Aonale," which is nonsensical.  The German for niece is "Nichte."  Nichte would make sense, at least.  Likewise, Rebecca could only be Samuel's granddaughter if he had a daughter who married a BOWERSOX, but Samuel doesn't appear to have had a daughter, at all, and he is barely old enough to be a grandfather.
