Samuel STRAUB / STROUB
Hannah MILLER
Martha SEARCH
WARNING:  I have no proof that the Samuel who married Hannah MILLER is the same Samuel who married Martha SEARCH, but the circumstantial evidence points to this being one man (n.b., STROUB is a common spelling variation in this STRAUB family).

Could Samuel "STOUT" be our subject?  It must have been a difficult entry to read because the LDS transcribed it "STREET' (see next source).  Or did our subject simply not marry, at all, until 1840?

2.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1830 (Broderbund CD-315):  can't find.  The fact that he is not head-of-household suggests either that he is either a bachelor or a widowers, so is living in a household where some other male was enumerated at the head-of-household.

3.  1840 Census Index and Digital Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #1-2 of 4; extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):
1840 OH Delaware [now Marion] Co. Marlborough [now Waldo] Twp. pp. 255B-256A Ln.  26 Town of Waldo Samuel Stroub 000 001 - 000 010 0010000
These data indicate:
No. & Sex Age Class Therefore Born Individuals Inferred
1 male 30-39 1800-1810 = Samuel
1 female 20-29 1810-1820 = Martha (b. 1814)
1 person engaged in commerce
Listed next to Samuel's presumed brother, Andrew S. STRAUB, merchant.  The lack of children suggests either Samuel didn't have a prior wife or she died with no surviving children (e.g., giving birth to her first child).

4a.  1850 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com):  not found, and I checked every Samuel indexed in Ohio with any potential of being our subject.

4b.  1850 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #45 of 55):  Marion Twp., Marion Co., OH, p. 88A/175, 317/315, enumerated 23 Jul 1850, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1850 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):¤•

Catharine SEARCH is Martha (SEARCH) STROUB's mother, and thus, Harriet STROUB's maternal grandmother.  I haven't found Harriet's parents anywhere, so it appears she has been orphaned.
