For Anthon's age, "9/12" had been written in, then someone x'd it out and put what I can barely read, but what looks like "01."  Surely Anthon was not born in Germany.  It appears the enumerator has gotten out of alignment because it's the next household where the individuals were born in German.  Also living on Burling Street are two orphaned children of Johann & Katharine STRAUB.

4.  SSDI:  Social Security Death Index (online at RootsWeb.com; missing columns contained no data):
Name Birth Death Last Residence SSN Issued Post-em
Joseph STRAUB 10 Nov 1901 __ Nov 1967 60614 (Chicago, Cook, IL) 325-05-4056 IL Yes
Joseph F STRAUB 24 Nov 1924 24 Feb 2000 (V) 60641 (Chicago, Cook, IL) 354-14-4616 IL Yes
Joseph C STRAUB 13 Mar 1925 14 Jan 1994 60056 (Mount Prospect, Cook, IL) 325-05-4056 IL No
The elder Joseph STRAUB is the only one in the database who was born ca. 1901 and whose card was issued in Illinois; he is probably our subject, but confirmation is desirable.  There are two Joseph STRAUBs in the database b. ca. 1924/5 with cards issued in Illinois, so confirmaton is needed to prove which, if either, is our subject's son.  Anna, Elizabeth, Mary, and Anton/Anthony not found.

5.  Global Gazetteer (by Falling Rain Genomics, Inc.):  the gazetter shows no such place as "Plogovat" in Romania, so it appears to be a misspelling of Glogovat.

6.  STRAUB of Glogowatz.
