I found it nearly impossible to rationalize the children in the home from census to census.  There can be little doubt that they had more children than just the ones named here, but it is equally likely that some of the young people in their home between 1800 and 1850 were not their children.  The question is, of course, which ones?  And that's assuming there are no errors in the census records, which is never a safe assumption.

Where is Abe?  He should be seven years old.  I double-checked the image and there are no sons indicated, but surely there were sons (see following censuses).  Either there was a mistake in 1800 or our subjects had a lot of children in their home who were not theirs.  List was roughly alphabetized.

The three teen-age males were missing from the 1800 census; and, for that reason, I'd normally just consider them "hired help" or "other kin," not sons, but the unlikelihood that they had just girls as their first five children and the assertion of a child, Abe, born in 1793, makes me think it is the 1800 census that is in error.  That is, that the lack of males in 1800 is a mistake on the part of the census-taker.  For now, I'm going to consider them as sons.  This may be incorrect.

9.  Charles A. Fisher.  1938.  Snyder County Pioneers.  Self-published, Selinsgrove, PA (republ. 1991, Genealogical Publ. Co., Baltimore, MD).  On p. 90:
GEORGE P. STRAUB was a son of Peter Straub, Sr.  George was born in what is now Washington Twp., Snyder Co., Pa., on June 13, 1769, and died in the same section on September 9, 1853.  His wife, Catherine _____, was born on June 25, 1769, and died on December 4, 1837.  Both are interred in the St. Peter's Cemetery in Freeburg.
On what basis did Fisher attach George to these parents?  Was he correct in doing so?
