| *In the 1820 Census, the third column is
age class 16-18 and the fourth column is age class 16-25; therefore, any
individual in column three is duplicated in column four. By subtracting
the number in column three from the number in column four, you can create
an age class "19-25." |
Christian's mother wasn't widowed until 1824/5.

The "daughter" did not appear in the 1820 Census, so either the census-taker
in 1820 made a mistake or this girl is not their daughter. George
is absent from the household at only age 11/12. Either that or it
is more census-taker error. Abraham may not have been born until
1831, so this male may not be Abraham. Need the 1840 data to find
out.

| It appears our subjects were enumerated twice in the 1850 Census, only
a month apart. Did they move? Did they own property in both
places? Did the two enumerators accidentally overlap their territories?
Surely there could not be two families so much alike!

I'll bet the wife was the informant. The census-taker gave precise
birth locations for everyone — and don't we wish all census-takers did
so! Listed two households from David ELY.

Given Anna's age, it's unlikely that Rose and Ellen are her children.
Then again, some women do have, "change-of-life" babies, much to their
surprise. |
