Is John ROTH possibly this John ROTH?  John ROTH is a common name, so probably not, but it's quite a coincidence.  And it would then raise the question as to the relationship between our subject and Charles STRAUB.

Died Last Evening.  From Monday's Daily.  At her home, 501 Mulberry street, Sunday evening, at 10 o'clock, of heart failure, Emily Straub, beloved wife of Albert F. Straub.  Deceased's maiden name was Emily Chambers.  She was born in Canada East, April 6, 1831.  On the 8th day of June, 1856, she was united in marriage to Albert F. Straub at Vienna, Canada West.  In 1860 they removed to Scott county, Iowa, where they resided until the fall of 1866, when they moved to the old Vincent Chambers farm in Sweetland township, Muscatine county, Iowa.  They removed from here to Montgomery county, Iowa, in the fall of 1883.  In 1892 they returned to Muscatine, where they have made their home ever since.  Deceased was a loving and kind wife and her daily care was the comfort of her loving husband, who is left to mourn her loss.  Their adopted son, William Straub, arrived from Lime City today and will take charge of the remains.  The funeral services will be held at the residence of J. E. McElroy, 508 Mulberry street, at 10 o'clock Tuesday, Sept. 20, conducted by the Rev. Arthur Fowler. The interment will take place at Lime City, Iowa.

Sunday morning, about the hour of four, occurred the death of a well-known and respected citizen of this city, Albert Straub.  The deceased had been ill for only a short time with pneumonia, and his death was wholly unexpected by his friends.  Albert Straub was 71 years, 1 month and 9 days of age, and was a native of Germany, having come to this country in the year of 1850, residing first in Ohio, then going to Canada for a few years, after which he returned to the United States.  He was married in the year 1860 and came to Iowa.  From 1866 to 1884 he resided on the old Chambers farm in Sweetland township and after that date he made an excursion into the west, but was gone only a short time.  He settled in Muscatine after returning from the west and has been a well-known and highly respected citizen ever since.  His wife preceded into the realm of eternity having died one year this coming September.  The body was shipped over the B., C.R. & N. to Lime City where the  internment will be made this afternoon.
