Aren't John and John Peter the same person? We have an extra female,
but we would expect that they had at least a few children who did not survive.
Stephen is five lines down from Charles STROUP, who is one line down from
Peter STROUP. There are many SMITHs in the county (including
another Stephen), but none of Stephen's children are old enough to be head-of-household
in the census.

None of the sons is know to have married by 1800, so they should all be
at home. Whether we are missing one or two sons depends on whether
John/John Peter is one person or two. Catharina was married
in 1797, so presumably the older daughter is Mary, who hasn't married yet,
though it's possibly that Mary has married and that the older girl is hired
help — with seven males and a little girl to care for, Maria would have
needed some additional female help! We have an extra male in the
1790-1800 class, but we would expect that they had at least some children
who did not survive.
