| Jacob SCHAEFFER
Ms. __?__ Eleanor CONNETT |
| WARNING: I have no direct evidence that Jacob had an earlier wife though the age difference between Jacob and Eleanor immediately suggests there would have been one. The elder children present in the 1820 census reinforce that there likely was an earlier wife though there is no certainty that these were Jacob's children; they may have been boarders, hired help, or other kin. If there were two wives, the next question is which wife birthed which children, and to know that, for certain, we need Eleanor's marriage record. So, is 1820 a guess, or is there a basis for it? A marriage in 1820 would have been a late first marriage for her. Or did she, also, have a prior marriage, so are some of the older children hers and not Jacob's? Please consider this page tentative. |
