Peter RUBLE
Achsah McCRAY
Husband:  Peter RUBLE
Birth:  1801/2, Washington Co., TN
Death:  aft. 1870, prob. Iron Co., MO
Father:  John E. RUBEL
Mother:  Martha __?__

Secondary sources say Peter was born in Greene Co., TN — presumably based on where his marriage was licensed — but Peter's parents lived in Washington Co., TN, from at least 1792 to 1832.

Marriage:  10 Feb 1823, Greene Co., TN
Wife:  Achsah "Axey" McCRAY
Birth:  1801/2, Washington Co., TN
Death:  1870-80, Iron Co., MO
Father probablyCharles McCRAY
Mother probablyRebecca Elizabeth DEAKINS

Secondary sources say Achsah was born in Greene Co., TN — presumably based on where her marriage was licensed — but if Charles and Rebecca are her parents, which seems very likely (see discussion), she was born in Washington Co.  Couples sometimes ran off and got married in an adjacent county, so the county where the marriage license was obtained isn't necessarily the county of residence of the couple, or of their birth, or of their children's births — or even where the wedding ceremony actually took place.  Tax and census records are a better indication of where the couple was actually living.

Children:
1.  Massa "Massey" RUBLE, b. 20 Feb 1824, TN
2.  Leannah RUBLE, b. 2 Feb 1831, Monroe Co., TN; d. Oct 1892; m. 29 Aug 1850, Wayne Co., MO, Milton CLIFTON
3.  Elizabeth RUBLE, b. 18 May 1836, Wayne Co., MO

Secondary sources have the first two children born in Greene Co. — presumably based on where their parents' marriage was licensed — but records in 1830 and 1832 show the family to be in Monroe Co., so Leannah, at least, was not born in Greene Co.

Sources (n.b., Iron Co. was formed from six counties, including Wayne, in 1857):

1.  Byron Sistler & Barbara Sistler.  1987.  Early East Tennessee Marriages, Vol. 1, Grooms.  Byron Sistler & Assoc., Inc., Nashville, TN.  On p. 317:
Ruble, Peter to Axey McCrae 2-10-1823 [Ge]

2.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1830 (Broderbund CD-315):
1830 Census Rubell, Peter TN Monroe Co. p. 4
1832 Rubell, Peter TN Monroe Co.
Also in Monroe Co.:  Peter's brother, Joseph RUBLE

3.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1840 (Broderbund CD-316):
1840 Ruble, Peter MO Wayne Co. p. 232
Also in Wayne Co., on the same page:  Peter's brother, Joseph RUBLE

4.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1850 (Broderbund CD-317):
1850 Ruble, Peter MO Wayne Co. 101st District p. 193
1850 Ruble, Massa MO Wayne Co. 101st District p. 193
1850 Rubble, Henry MO Wayne Co. 101st District p. 193
It is very unlikely that Massa would be a "head-of-household," so I suspect this is a case where Peter's record spans two pages, with Massa at the top of the second page.  It is Broderbund's policy to index the first name on the page, whether it is a head-of-household or not.  Also, who is Henry?  And where is Joseph?

5.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1860 (Broderbund CD-318):  no MO on CD.

6.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1870 (Broderbund CD-319):  no MO on CD.

7.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1880 (Broderbund CD-320):  no MO on CD.
