NOTE:  It has been alleged that our subject was the product of a relationship between Rebecca STEPHENS and her first cousin, Elmer Ellsworth CORBIN.  A son of our subject has been Y-DNA tested, and he is Haplogroup R1b1, which proves that Elmer is not his paternal grandfather because these CORBINs are Haplogroup G2.  (People in different haplogroups cannot have had a common ancestor for thousands of years.)  These DNA test results further show that our subject's son is genetically a STEPHENS, which would appear to mean that Wilmer's father was one of Rebecca's STEPHENS kin.  (See DNA table below.)

Our subject has a rare haplotype, especially for an R1b1, which is the most common Y-DNA haplogroup in western Europe.  The value that makes their haplotype rare is DYS393 = 14 (table cells in red); in Haplogroup R1b, DYS393 is usually 13.  He has matches at the level of 11/12 to 37/37 with six STEPHENS'es from the Ysearch database, which leads us to the inescapable conclusion that Wilmer is the son of one of his mother's STEPHENS kin.
Your project admin recommends all of these STEPHENS'es upgrade to 37 markers and that any matching 35/37 or better upgrade to 67 markers to determine just how closely related you really are.
