1a.  Interviews of my mother, Nina Gale (Straub) Matthiesen (1907-1991) of Saratoga, CA, subject's niece.  My mother lived with her Aunt Jo in Washington, DC, during the late 1920s or early 1930s when she attended art school there.  She had a life-long friendship with Jo's daughter, who always went by Anita, not Besse.

Our subject could be either one, or neither, of these two, but it seems highly probably that he is the William J. PETERS who was s/o Edward & Susan (MILLER) PETERS.  However, Edward and Susan are in the 1880 Census of Franklin Co., OH, not Pickaway Co.
