Either both censuses are wrong (1850 and 1860) or Piersol had an earlier wife or Jane's birthday is wrong or the marriage date to Lydia is wrong — or Lydia was full-term pregnant when Piersol married her.  Given Piersol's age, we certainly would have expected him to have had an earlier wife.

Annie is said to have been born 31 Jan 1861 and to have died 15 Apr 1880, but the 1861 date appears to be the result of fibbing about her age later in life because no daughter that age shows up in our subjects' household in 1870.  The death date would also appear to be wrong because she is said to have had children as late as 1895, raising the question of whether the wife of Edward KABELLA was really our subject's daughter.
