| Maj. Thomas Stubblefield LONG
Ms. __?__ Lucinda "Lucy" SLAUGHTER |
| Husband: Thomas Stubblefield LONG
Birth: 1774, Culpeper Co., VA Death: 1825/6, Christian Co., KY Father: Maj. Gabriel LONG Mother: Elizabeth STUBBLEFIELD |
| Marriage-1: |
| If Bathseba's birthdate is correct, the marriage could not have been
before 1800, though Thomas is old enough to have married sooner.
As her deathdate has to be wrong, I don't have much confidence in her birthdate
— or, for that matter, that Bathsheba really was his first wife.
Most sources consider Thomas's first wife to be unknown.
Marriage: aft. 1800
I don't see how Bathsheba's death year can be correct, unless she and Thomas divorced, and that seems unlikely as Thomas shows up alone with the children in the 1810 Census. I would guess 1870 is a typo for 1807, but she had a child in 1808/9 — assuming Owen's age in the 1850 Census is correct. |
| Marriage-2: 15 Aug 1812, Christian Co., KY |
| Wife-2: Lucinda Brown "Lucy" SLAUGHTER
Birth: 1784/5, VA Other spouse: m1. 14 Oct 1805, Christian Co., KY, Gabriel LONG, Jr. [half-brother of our subject] Other children: 1. John Slaughter LONG, b. 1806-10 2. Gabriel Brown LONG, b. 1808/9 3. Nancy Slaughter LONG, b. 11 Jan 1811 |
| Children with Bathsheba MOXLEY: |
| 1. (Son A) LONG, b. 1801-4
2. Elizabeth LONG, b. ca. 1807; d.s.p. bef. 1810 3. Owen Moxley LONG, b. 1808/9, KY If they did have a daughter, Elizabeth, she died before 1810 because she doesn't show up in either the 1810 or 1820 censuses. |
| Children with Lucinda (SLAUGHTER) LONG — born in Christian Co., KY: |
| 4. Americus Vespucius LONG, b. 1813/4; never married
5. Susan Stubblefield LONG, b. 1819/20 6. Ellen LONG, b. 1820/1 7. Lucinda Slaughter "Lucy" LONG, b. 1820-25; m. Mr. TANDY 8. Thomas W. LONG, b. 1825/6; m. 2 Oct 1849, Christian Co., KY, Eliza McCARROLL Some sources show them with a son, Thomas J. LONG, the one who married Narcissa EDGAR, but that Thomas LONG is not the one living with Lucy in the 1850 Census. Other sources give the parents of Thomas Jefferson LONG, husband of Narcissa EDGAR, as William LONG and Mary PATTON, and that certainly makes more sense. William LONG is an immigrant from England, so those LONGs have no relationship to our subjects. |
