It is very difficult to tell this enumerator's lowercase "a's" from his "o's."
The surnames could be read Knablack, Knablock, Knoblock, Knoblack.
They are listed two households from John
KNOBLOCH (æ 39, b. Hesse-Darmstadt), who is almost certainly Charles's
brother.

Where was the junior Carl in 1860? Is he really their son? "Carle's"
brother, John
KNOBLOCH, is in Ward 6.

This record is hard to figure. Daughter Mary (who is fibbing about
her age) is shown as having five children, all surviving. So, where
are they? Are they all married? The only way for that to be
the case is if she had the five children almost back-to-back in the early
years of their marriage, then completely stopped having children at least
15 -18 years ago. I tried to find George & Mary in the 1880 census,
but there name is so unreadable here (I don't think "Steifhaus" is even
close), that I can't find them. The next puzzle is son, John, who
is said to be married, for two years, but where is his wife? If he's
widowed or divorced, it should say so. The two children born in the
1890s can't possible be Christina's, so are they John's? If so, they
should have been labeled "grandson" and "granddaughter."
