All I can figure is that the enumerator heard "Daniel" as "Samuel" (when spoken, the names do sound similar).  James RACY is Mary's widowed father.  Daniel's widowed father, Chas. KERBY (æ 62, b. MA) is also in Bellmont (p. 752); there is no Daniel with him, nor any other Daniel KIRBY/etc. in Franklin County.
