Huggins, b. 1810, d. after 1883, in Ironton township of Lincoln Co., m. 12/21/1839, in Lincoln Co., Catharnie Fisher, b. 1812, in Lincoln Co., d. before 1860, in Rutherford Co., dau. of Stephen and Elizabeth Gilleland Fisher, son of John and Eleanor Fisher, son of Stephen and Elizabeth Fisher.  Elizabeth Gilleland Fisher was a dau. of Thomas and Mary Gilleland, son of Alexander and Frances Baird Gilleland, dau. of John and Frances Baird, son of John and Avis Baird, son of John Baird (1667-1781).  (Ref: Rutherford Co., Census, 1850, p. 280, Montford's Cove; Lincoln Co. According to the births of his children from 1841 to 1852, all were born in Montford's Cove of northern Rutherford Co., where he had obtained a "situation," and the
p. 19	1850 Census there lists him as a teacher.  At a later date, he was a teacher in District Eight in Catawba Co., and by 1860, he had married, secondly, Mary Elizabeth Fisher, his sister-in-law, and they were living in Lincoln Co., in Spring Hill township, where he was a Methodist Protestant minister.  Lincoln County marriage bonds to 1868, show that he was the officiating minister for seven couples.  In 1870, he was a schoolteacher in Dallas township of Gaston Co., and in 1880, a teacher in Ironton township of Lincoln Co., (these townships closely adjoined) and stated that his father was born in Va., and his mother in N.Y.  In the 1883 Lincoln Co. elections, he was shown as Rev. Stroup, b. 10/11/1848, d. 11/21/1902, (sister of the above mentioned Stroups), dau. of Caleb and Amy Abernethy Stroup, son of Moses and Susannah Masters Stroup, son of Philip and Molly Eddleman Stroup, son of Jacob and Nancy Rhyne Stroup, son of Peter and Marie Straub (German) of Pa.  Amy Abernethy Stroup, wife of Caleb, was dau. of James Abernethy, who d. 10/3/1841, in Lincoln Co., whose Abernethy ancesotrs were among the earliest from Va.
