WARNING:  this list of children is entirely from secondary sources, so is in need of documenation.  The inclusion of a son, "Mark," is suspect because the only southern Mark HOPKINS indexed in the entire 1850 census is Mark D. HOPKINS (æ 2, b. AR) in Independence Co., AR.  A son, "Mark," may have been fabricated to support the contention that our subject's presumed brother, Edward, was the father of Mark HOPKINS, railroad baron, which he definitely was not.  In the 1850 census, railroad baron Mark HOPKINS (æ 34, b. NY), is living in CA.
