p. 514 410.  HENRY LOUCKS8 (NORMAN,7 NEHEMIAH,6 NEHEMIAH,5 EBENEZER,4 EBENEZER,3 STEPHEN,2 JOHN1), b. at Detroit, Michigan, 2 February 1823; m. at Lexington, Michigan, 2 February 1848, Mary Almeda Mills, b. at Burlington, Vermont, 28 January 1829, daughter of Clark Oramel and Mary (Olds) Mills.  He d. at Caro, Michigan, 3 October 1908; she d. there 18 January 1917.

A vessel owner and captain, and a building contractor.  He was a Presbyterian and in politics an Independent.  He served in two wars, having been a private in that with Mexico and a Captain in the Civil War.  Enlisting at Independece, Iowa, 16 February 1864, as Captain of Company G, First Iowa Cavalry, he was discharged at Shreveport, Louisiana, 22 April 1866.   In the engagement at Sunflower Landing, Louisiana, 16 November 1864, he was wounded by a saber cut on his chin.
