Jonas ELY I

WARNING:  I don' know for certain that Jonas had two wives, but an earlier wife would account for the three oldest children in the household.  Other possibilities are that the marriage date to Effie is wrong or that the three older children are not Jonas's children, at all, but other kin or even hired help.

Living next door to son, Jonas ELY, Jr.  The only other ELY in Greene Co. is their son, George ELY, in Whiteley Twp.  Listed seven households below their daughter, Nancy (ELY) THROCKMORTON.  The fact that Waynesburgh was their Post Office doesn't mean they lived in Waynesburgh.  These were farmers who lived out in the country, in the days before there was rural mail delivery.  To get their mail, they had to drive/ride into town.  They got their mail in Waynesburgh; they lived in Franklin Twp.
