Name: Joseph Davis...
Marriage: Margaret H. Craig...
Married: 2 JUN 1831 in Boone County, Missouri
Event: Officiant in Barnes, James
Note: Larkin H. Craig, guardian of bride, gave consent; Henry Cave, wit.

3.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1840 (Broderbund CD-316):  not found in Boone Co., MO, but I suspect he is living there with his widowed mother because Joseph's land in Boone Co. was adjacent to his father's and Joseph, as eldest son, appears to have inherited his father's land.

*The county is not given on the original certificate, which describes the location of the land solely in terms of Aliquot, Section, Township, and Range.  The county names must have been added to the database at some later time, probably when the certificate data were computerized.

5.  William F. Switzler.  1882.  History of Boone County, Missouri.  Western Historical Co., St. Louis, MO.  On p. 1107, under the heading, "EARLY HISTORY":
Isaac DAVIS came from Christian county, Kentucky, to this part of Missouri in 1818, and settled two miles east of Hallsville.  His sons were James, Henry, Isaac, Benjamin, John and Joseph.  One of Isaac's sons, Joseph, now lives on the old DAVIS homestead.
The Joseph here is son of Isaac son of Isaac, that is, grandson of the Isaac who came to MO in 1818 — not our subject.
