*The county is not given on the original certificate, which describes the location of the land solely in terms of Aliquot, Section, Township, and Range.  The county names must have been added to the database at some later time, probably when the certificate data were computerized.

Isaac DAVIS came from Christian county, Kentucky, to this part of Missouri in 1818, and settled two miles east of Hallsville.  His sons were James, Henry, Isaac, Benjamin, John and Joseph.  One of Isaac's sons, Joseph, now lives on the old DAVIS homestead.

The Joseph here is son of Isaac son of Isaac, that is, grandson of the Isaac who came to MO in 1818 — not our subject.
