p. 29 MAJOR CLEMENT CORBIN (James, Clement), b. Feb. 17, 1698, at Woodstock; m. Hannah Morris Nov. 7, 1726; she was b. Nov. 9, 1700, and was the dau. of Samuel and Mehitable (Mayo) Morris, and granddau. of Lt. Edward and Grace (Butts) Morris, who came fom Essex, England.  Mehitable Mayo was the dau. of John and Hannah (Graves) Mayo; John Mayo was brought from England in 1633 by his stepfather, John Gamblin, and m. Hannah, dau. of John Graves of Roxbury, May 24, 1654.  (See Morris Register, p. 22.)  Clement Corbin bought land of Philip Amidown in Keekamoochaug (Dudley) in 1731 and 1746.  He resided at Dudley on the farm now owned by Erastus Alton, one and one-half miles from the Webster station on the main road to Dudley.  He d. in Dudley.

Clement Corbin held the following town offices in Dudley: Fence-viewer, 1732; committee to lay out highways, 1732; committee for ordination of Rev. Isaac Richardson, 1733; to build meeting-house, 1733-4; to ordain Rev. Perley Howe, 1735; hayward and field driver, 1733; selectman, 1734, 1735, 1739, 1741, 1742, 1750; town treasurer, 1741, 1742, 1744, 1745; committee to erect schoolhouse, 1742.
