Abraham CORBIN
Rachael MARSHALL
WARNING:  I believe a bad connection has been made in the secondary literature and that the Abraham CORBIN who married Rachael MARSHAL is not the son of Edward CORBIN.  Not only have I found nothing to document the connection, a connection is not even probable because Edward's son, baptized in 1722, was unlikely to have made a first marriage in 1766, at the age of 44.  It appears that a generation has been skipped and that our subject is more likely a grandson, not a son, of Edward.  The close association of our subject's children with the children of Sophia (CORBIN) MARSH in Kentucky suggests Abraham may have been Sophia's brother.  On the other hand, if so, there were two first-cousin marriages among their children.
Husband:  Abraham CORBIN
Birth:  ca. 1743
Death:  7 Oct 1793

Sibling possiblySophia (CORBIN) MARSH

For reasons given above, I do not believe our subject is this Abraham CORBIN:
Husband:  Abraham CORBIN
Birth:  in or bef. 1722, Baltimore Co., MD
Baptism:  7 Sep 1722, St. Paul's Protestant Episcopal Church, Baltimore, Baltimore Co., MD
Father:  Edward CORBIN
Mother:  Jane WILKINSON
Marriage:  4 Dec 1766, St. John's or St. George's Parish, Baltimore Co., MD
Wife:  Rachael MARSHALL
Birth:  ca. 1747
Children:
Sarah CORBIN, b. 1769/70, PA, m. Thomas MARSH, Jr., s/o Thomas MARSH, Sr. & Sophia CORBIN — to Bourbon Co., KY
Eleanor CORBIN; m. Beal MARSH, s/o Thomas MARSH, Sr. & Sophia CORBIN — to Bourbon Co., KY
Abraham CORBIN; m. Eleanor BOSLEY, d/o James BOSLEY & Temperance MARSH, d/o Thomas MARSH & Sophia CORBIN
.  Thomas CORBIN — is he this Thomas CORBIN? or this one? (or are these one Thomas CORBIN?)
.  Nicholas CORBIN
.  Nathan CORBIN, b. 3 May 1788

Was Sarah really born in PA?  She says so in the 1850 census.

For reasons given at the top of this page, I do not believe our subject was the son of Edward & Jane (WILKINSON) CORBIN.

MARYLAND CORBIN FAMILY
(Furnished by Mrs. Effie S. Honson, of Ventura, California, to Mrs. J. W. Marr, Lexington, Ky.)

NICHOLAS CORBIN — Came to Baltimore Co., Md. in 1671. (Authority, "Early Maryland Settlers List." "Annapolis land office records. Vol. XVI., page 533."  Alice, wife of Nicholas Corbin, 2nd., mar. John Barrot.  (Annapolis Md. Inventories and Accounts, XX, page 47).  Children of Nicholas and Alice Corbin, 1, Elizabeth (mr. Roberts); 2. Mary (mar. Gostwick); 3, Edward (mar. Jane Wilkinson, a daughter of Wm Wilkinson, 1718).  Children of Edward and Jane Corbin: 1, Nicholas; 2, William Wilkinson Corbin, died; 3, Abraham Corbin; 4, Phyllis Anna Corbin; 5, Providence Corbin; 6, Unity Corbin; 7, Edward Corbin, Jr.  Abraham Corbin, son of Edward and Jane, mar. Rachel Marshall.  Abraham was born Sept. 7, 1722, St. Paul's Parrish, Baltimore, Co., Md.  Married Dec. 4, 1766, (see rec. St. John's). Their children (LIb. W. G. No. 56, page 122. Mentions all these children and widow, Rachel): Abraham, Thomas, Nicholas, Nathan, Sarah (mar. Thomas Marsh, Jr.), Eleanor (mar. beale Marsh).  All six of these came to Kentucky.

Nicholas made the crossing with his first wife, Elizabeth, and daughters Elizabeth and Mary, so Alice was not their mother.  Alice does appear to have been Edward's mother.  This book may also be the origin of the bad connection between Edward CORBIN and the Abraham CORBIN who married Rachel MARSHALL.  I just don't buy a first marriage for Abraham at the age of 44.  Yes, Edward CORBIN had a son, Abraham CORBIN, but I see no documentation suggesting, much less proving, that this Abraham CORBIN is the one who married Rachel MARSHALL.  The Abraham CORBIN who married Rachel MARSHALL is far more likely Edward's grandson, than his son.  Given that Abraham's children were intermarrying with the children of Thomas MARSH & Sophia CORBIN in Kentucky, it is far more likely that Abraham is related to Sophia.  He is of an age to be Sophia's brother, which would make him a son of Nicholas Z. CORBIN and a grandson of Edward.

9.  WorldConnect (online at RootsWeb.com).  Has Sarah b. 1760, which does not jibe with her parents having married in 1766 and her age in the 1850 census, which indicates a birthyear of 1769/70.
