Many secondary sources give Peter's birthplace as France (or Normandy, France).  Peter was born in Maryland.  It was his father who was the immigrant, to Maryland in 1674.  There is no indication whatsoever of his father's birthplace in any primary record:  the "French connection" is a myth.

At the request of George Keyth of CC, the following [lease] was recorded Jun 13, 1730.   Mar 25, 1730 from Peter Carrico of CC, planter, to George Keyth of CC, planter, and Elizabeth, his wife, for the considerations already reserved and hereafter mentioned, the lease of part of a parcel of land called Maidston, now in the possession of sd Peter Carrico, situated on a branch of Piles Fresh, bounded by a tract of land now in the possession of John Piggeon called New Bradford, a tract of land in possession of Lawrence Lent called Canterbury, containing 50 acres.  George Keyth may cut down any timber or timber trees for the use of sd land (viz) for building, fencing, or tobacco hogsheads, during the term of 19 years, to commence from Dec 10 last past, in consideration of which George Keyth has paid Peter Carrico 2000 lbs of tobacco.  Signed - Peter Carico. Abel Carrico is, presumably, Peter's brother.  I wonder why George Keech would request the recording of the lease to Abel.  Could this be transcriber error?

The mortgage was signed in 1764, but recorded in 1765.  I believe Peter must still have been alive at the time the deed was recorded or some mention would have been made of his demise.

Apparently, the mortgage payments weren't made because Maidstone fell into the hands of Samuel Hanson.

CARRICOE, Margaret, age 52, stated she was the wife of Peter Carricoe, 28 Sept. 1767; CHLR 59:614.

We can take it as a given that Margaret probably fibbed about her age, so she was at least 52 when she gave this deposition.

9.  Homer E. Carrico.  1951.  "The Carrico Family." Filson Club Historical Quarterly 25:  217-252 (republ. 1991 as pp. 215-250 in Genealogy of Kentucky Families. Genealogical Publ. Co., Baltimore, MD; in 1997 as Broderbund CD-185).  [This article is known to contain errors; consult with caution.]  Homer gives a marriage date for Peter and Ann as "1720, Charles County, Maryland."  As documentation, he cites "Warrants Lib. EE, Folio 446 (Hall of Records, Annapolis, Maryland)."  Unfortunately, he doesn't quote his source, so one can't judge how well-founded the basis is for his claim regarding the marriage.  If Homer is correct, it's rather strange that Ann Gates is marrying first at 30 years of age.
