James P. Carmean Passes Away at
Daughter's Home.
RICHWOOD. Feb. 2—James P. Carmean, 87, Civil war veteran
of Green Camp, died last night at the home of Mrs. Fay Conwell,
a daughter, of therr miles east of Essex. He had been ill eight weeks.
He was a member of the G.A.R.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Green Camp Baptist
church in charge of Rev. V.P. Powell. Burial will be made in the
Green Camp cemetery.
Surviving are the widow and four children, Mrs. E.H. Porter
of Green Camp, A.M. and John
of Cleveland and Mrs. Conwell. |

OBITUARY
James P. Carmine was born Nov. 2, 1844 in Baltimore, Maryland,
to James and Elizabeth Carmine.
He departed this life Feb. 1, 1932, Aged 87 years, and 3 months.
He came to Green Camp when ten years of age. When the war cloud was
hovering our nation he enlisted as a private in Company I, 174th regiment,
Ohio Volunteer Infantry, on 10th day of September, 1864 at Marion by Capt.
Garret and was mustered into service Sept. 13, 1864 at Mansfield by Capt.
Shunk and was mustered out with the company June 28, 1865. He was
a member of G.A.R. Post No. 131 at Mansfield. Mr. Carmine was united
in marriage to Mrs. Magdoline Garison Johnson April 15, 1875.
To this union were born five children, Mrs. E.H. Porter, Mr.
J.N. Carmine of Green camp., Mr. A.N. Carmine of Cleveland,
Mrs.
Faye Conwell of Green camp at whose home he died, and Mrs. Herman
Uncapher who with the mother preceded him in death. He also leaves
eight grandchildren and one great granchild. Mr. Carmine has made
his home with his daughter, Mrs. Faye Conwell since Nov. 1, 1919. |
