Marilyn Crezee says the IGI is wrong about the identity of Daniel CREAMER's wife, that she was Ann RANDALL.

CREAMER (33, NY; boat builder) & Caroline (28, NY), plus siblings.  Listed next to Alfred's parents, Daniel CREAMER (64, NJ; boat builder) & wife Ann (65, NJ).  Samuel McDOWEL (34, PA) and his wife, Eliza J. (18, OH), are living in a tavern in Defiance, Defiance Co., OH (p. 277A).

3.  1870 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com):  Daniel A. CREAMER (16, NY; telegraph operator) is living in Chillicothe, Livingston Co., MO (p. 491B), with his parents, Alfred W. CREAMER (43, NY; railroad worker) & Caroline (41, NY), plus siblings.  Kate McDOWEL (8, OH) is living in Defiance, Defiance Co., OH (p. 35A), with her mother, Jennie McDOWEL (28, OH), plus siblings William (10, OH), Agnes (7, OH), Arthur (5, OH), and Susa (sic) F. (2, MO).  Their record begins at the page break, and I'm wondering if that didn't cause the enumerator to err, leaving off Samuel.

Kate and her mother were born in OH; her father was born in PA.

4b.  1880 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com):  The only McDOWELL family in Livingston Co., MO, is that of Samuel W. McDOWELL (60, PA) and his wife, Eliza J. (37, OH), plus these children: William (19, OH), Agness (17, OH), Arthur (15, OH), Susan (11, MO), Grace (3, MO), who are living in Chillicothe (p. 63A).

5.  Letter dated 25 Jul 1880 (Sunday) from Martha Abigail (HOPKINS) BROWN of Chillicothe, to her daughter, Nellie (BROWN) KIRK (transcribed by and in the possession of Rhenda Green Cedars of Natchitoches, LA).  One line pertains to our subject:

...  Dan Creamer (?) wife is dead...

The question mark indicates the transcriber had difficulty reading the name.
