The older boys appear to be William, James, and John Jr., yet there are
three males this age living with their eldest son, Charles. Could
John and Catherine have had more than the nine children attributed to them
by Eugene Cordry (Source 6 below)?

| *The county was divided into just two districts:
from 1804 to 1806, into North and South Districts; beginning in 1807, into
East and West Districts. The change tells us that John was in the
southeast quadrant of early Christian County, which later became the southwest
quadrant of Todd Co., when it was formed in 1820. This location is
confirmed by the location of the West Fork of the Red River in today's
southwestern Todd Co. Reins Lick Creek is a sinking tributary of the West
Fork of the Red River. |
Charles Cordry is also on the rolls, with livestock and 200 acres on the
West Fork of the Red River (he, too, is missing in 1808).

*Ten-to-one "Clay?" is a misreading of "Caty." Hard to say who the
second James might be. There should be another "John," not another
"Jas." As expected, the family drops off the tax rolls when Todd
Co. is formed in 1820.
[And good grief, the poor man was taxed not only to his grave, but
in it!]
