| His Majesty's commission under the Great Seale of the Province
aforesaid, appointing Thomas Neil Ju'r, William Moore, William Watson,
William Twitty, John Retzhoupt, James Mcilwean, Henry Clark, Jonas
Bedford, John Gordon, John Walker, Henry Holman, Robert Harris Jr, and
David Anderson, Esqrs., Justices, assigned to keep the peace for the county
of Tryon aforesaid was read in open court, and also a Commission and Dedimus
Potestatum empowering the said justices to administer all oaths, appointed
by Act of Parliament for the qualifications of all public officers, and
also such other oaths as are appointed by the Act of Assembly for the qualification
of all officers, according to their several commissions. |
| Henry Clark and John Gordon came into Court took the oaths
by Law appointed for the qualification of publicks officers, subscribed
the test, and took the oath of Justices of the Peace and took his seat
accordingly. |
| After proclamation the court proceeded to the election of a Sheriff
accordingly. There being eight magistrates on the bench to wit, Thomas
Neal, William Moore, John Gordon, John Walker, Henry Clark, Jacob

Two hundred & Twenty One. It is ordered by the court that a tax of
three shillings & two pence proclamation Money be raised and levied
by the Sheriff of the said County on each of the said Taxable Persons in
this the said County for the 1769 afsd, according to the Act of Assembly
