2.  1850 Census Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #68 of 264 — indexed "Landers"):  Washington Twp., Jackson Co., MO, p. 260B, 630/630, enumerated 21 Aug 1850 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):
Chrisman Landers/Sanders 23 M Farmer   Ky
    "    Melinda 22 F     MO
    "    Alex  2 M     "
Irvin James 14 M     "
This enumerators "L's" and "S's" were sometimes indistinguishable; could be either one in this case.  James is almost certainly Malinda's younger brother.

3.  1860 Census Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #22 of 93 — indexed "Sanders"):  Independence P.O., Blue Twp., Jackson Co., MO, p. 323, PN 87, 660/601, enumerated 16 Jun 1860 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):
Landers/Sanders Chrisman 33 m   Farmer   800 Virginia
Elizabeth   " 25 f         Kentucky
Rachael E   "  8 f         Mo
Charles H   "  3 m         do
Albert M    " 6/12 m         do
Could be either Landers or Sanders, but possibly closer to Sanders.  Living next door to Elizabeth FOSTER (56, VA), with whom are living Sarah CHRISMAN (19, MO) and Martha F. CHRISMAN (17, MO).

4.  1870 Census Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #49 of 84):  Independence P.O., Blue Twp., Jackson Co., MO, p. 216A, PN 49, enumerated 10 Sep 1870 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):

Looks more like Landers than Sanders.

5b.  1880 Census Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #14 of 28):  Blue Twp., Jackson Co., MO, p. 91D, PN 14, SD 6, ED 27, _/116, nd.  This enumerator made a clear distinction between his "L's" and "S's," so there's no question the first letter is "S."  On the other hand, I can't really tell whether it's Saunders or Sanders — it has one too few bumps for the former and one too many bumps for the latter.

6.  1890 Census:  was destroyed.

7.  1900 Census Index/Microfilm (online at Genealogy.com) and 1900 Census Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #6 of 31):  Blue Twp., Jackson Co., MO, p. 3A, SN 3, SD 5, ED 1, enumerated 5 Jun 1900 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen — neither image is clearly readable).  For the full record, see Jerry CHRISMAN's family group sheet.
