2.  Scott A. Bartley, ed.  1992.  Vermont Families in 1791.  Vol. 1.  Genealogical Soc. Vermont, Spec. Publ. No. 1, Picton Press, Camden, ME.  On p. 1:
THOMAS ALDEN ... married 1769 May 25 Needham MA [VR, she as Cheaney] to MARY CHENEY, possibly daughter of Timothy and Sarah (PRENTICE) CHENEY.  Mary was born circa 1745 [Gs] and died 1831 Nov 06 [Gs: Brookside Cem, Leicester, age 86].  It is possible that Charles H Pope's Cheney Genealogy (1897), pages 236-7, was in error stating Mary, the daughter of Timothy and Sarah Cheney married a Josiah Chamberlain.

Thomas [Alden] and Michael Metcalf were chosen on 1770 Mar 12 "to add to Lit Fisher to Tune the Psalm on the Sabbath Days" [Needham, 308].  Not long after his marriage, Thomas removed to Dublin NH, where he appeared on a tax list for 1773...

Thomas's association with a METCALF and his presence in Dublin, NH, are significant.  Edward C. CHENEY, Mary CHENEY's brother, was known to be in Dublin, NH, in 1777; and Edward's grandson, Elisha P. CHENEY, married a Frances METCALF.
