1. Samuel appears to have gotten himself enumerated twice. 2. Lincoln County was roughly alphabetized, but not as one continuous flow; that is, it appears each enumerator's list was individually alphabetized, then added to the final county list, one after the other. The effect appears to be that, despite the alphabetizing, families living near each other are grouped comparatively close to each other on the list, even if the subdivisions were not named (e.g., as precincts or townships or "companies"). The "group" to which our subjects belong began on p. 851 (Img #29) and continued to p. 858 (Img #34). |
