Townships and Boroughs Contained on NARA Microfilms of the 1870 Pennsylvania Census

Below are listed the contents of each roll of census microfilm of the 1870 Federal Census of Pennsylvania. This information is available from numerous sources, but it is seldom in a form that is convenient to access or use. For example, the National Archives own online catalog [link died] gives only a general indication of what is on each roll; and, while Genealogy.com gives detailed listings, you have to open each county to see the contents, which is slow and tedious. Here the contents are all listed on one page, so the only slow part may be downloading the page on a low-bandwidth connection.

Right now, most of the Locations are as given in the listings at Genealogy.com. Working with the actual census shows that, in some cases, Genealogy.com's listing is not entirely accurate. As I find these errors and omissions, I will amend and correct the list, below, indicating the changes with notes.
