| West Virginia did not become independent from Virginia (did not become a state) until 1863, but I have treated its counties as if the state had been in existence from the start. The 1790 and 1800 Virginia censuses were lost, except for Accomac County (Delmarva Peninsula) in 1800. The entire 1890 census was lost. |
