| The "Classic" Family Group Sheet |
| The standard form of storage and exchange of genealogical data is the
"Family Group Sheet," which contains the relevant data for a nuclear family
— a husband, his wife, and their children.
Traditionally, the family group sheet is contained on one or both sides of a sheet of standard letter paper. The internet is now the ideal medium for storage and exchange of family group sheets, especially as links between pages — between generations — are "hot," something that is totally out of the realm of possibility for hard copies. Most importantly, on the web where there are essentially no size limitations, there is room to include full documentation for the page — meaning sources can not only be fully cited, but fully quoted. If a man has multiple spouses, they and their children are included on the same family group sheet with the husband and in the same format as Wife-1, Wife-2, Wife-3, etc., and Children with Wife-1, Children with Wife-2, etc. If a woman has multiple spouses, she will appear multiple times, once on each husband's family group sheet. |
