John THOMPSON (c1730-1787/8) & Hannah WALDRUM of Botetourt Co., VA The progenitor of this family in America is said to be James THOMPSON, b. ca. 1696, Belfast, Ireland; d. Augusta Co., VA. The general migration route in the US appears to have been: PA > VA > KY > IL > MO, with major settlement in Greene and surrounding counties in Illinois.
