1. Letter from Eliza Trimble to Winifred Markee Miles, 1906. Eliza was the daughter-in-law of Joseph Trimble, son of James and Sarah (Hinton), relating family history as told to her by her husband. Eliza's statement that Joseph's grandfather, James? (Sr.?), married after the Revolutionary War cannot be correct because according to the 1810 and 1820 censuses, the James (Jr.?) who married Sarah Hinton was born bef. 1765. One wonders if James? (Sr.?), the immigrant and revolutionary, isn't the same man as the one who married Sarah Hinton — as a second, younger wife. Yet, how could Eliza's husband be that wrong about his own grandfather? Then again, the letter-writer is Joseph's daughter-in-law, not Joseph himself, and she's 90 years of age. Memories do fade. (If anyone knows which of James and Sarah's sons was married to Eliza, please share this information.)
