In the entire book, there is not one STRAUB! It appears Wagenseller has arbitrarily turned all STRAUBs and STROUPs into STROUBs. But STRAUB is the true/original surname while STROUP is by far the most common Anglicized spelling. The rarest spelling variation, by far, is STROUB!

2. 1850 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com): can't find, and I did a page-by-page check of Centre County and Beaver Twp., Union [now Snyder] County, where I did find a MARGARITZ/MARGERITZ family with a daughter (æ 14) named Albertina, who is almost certainly kin of our Albertina.
