Moses STROUP
Hester Amelia ALEXANDER
Permelia RICHARDS
WARNING:  Secondary sources do not agree on the wife/wives of our subject.  One source is adamant that his wife was Hester Amelia RICHARDS, d/o Benjamin Walker RICHARDS and Wilmoth Crippin ALEXANDER.  I'm wondering... Have secondary sources split one wife into two?  Amelia is a short form of Permelia, so is his one wife really Hester Permelia/Amelia Alexander RICHARDS?

Sources (n.b., Cass Co. was formed in 1832 from Habersham and Hall Cos., the name was changed to Bartow in 1861):

1.  Marriage Record:

2.  1820 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com):  not found, but the census was lost in 22 of Tennesee's 48 counties.

3.  1830 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com, Image #73 of 218; extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):¤•
1830 SC Spartanburg Co. Roll 171 p. 258 Ln. 1 H Hogan & M Stroup 000 010 100 - 000 000 000 no slaves
These data indicate:
No. & Sex Age Class Therefore Born Individuals Inferred
1 male 20-29 1800-1810 = Moses or H. Hogan
1 male 40-49 1780-1790 = Moses or H. Hogan
Moses should be in his 30s, but he also should be a widower (or divorcé?) at this point.  So, given that he is in Spartanburg County in 1840, this probably is our subject.  Apparently his son, Nathaniel, is with other kin.
