8.  Messages posted to the STROUP Surname Message Board (online at Ancestry.com), including one by Joseph J. Pepe describing the contents of Ellen's will (summarized by DGM):
Testator:  Ellen STROUP.
Attorney:  Mayne Longstreth, 608-610 Chestnut St., Philadelphia, PA.
Date Signed:  20 Mar 1873.
Date Proved:  6 Sep 1881.
Trustee and Executor:  Samuel W. McCULLY.
Named as Legatees:  Margaret Ewing HATCH (granddaughter); Amanda ROSE (sister); Mira/Myra COBB (sister).
Others:  Ellen BUDD, Daniel COBB (nephew, s/o Myra), Edward B. COBB, (nephew, s/o Myra), Henry C. COBB (nephew, s/o Myra), Sarah A. LORD, Elelina B. McCULLY, Susan McCULLY, Margaret PARK (niece, d/o Myra), Charles A. ROSE, William B. ROSE, and Julianna B. WOLF.
Charles A. ROSE and William B. ROSE are Ellen's nephews (sons of her sister, Amanda).  The only Julia/Julianna B. WOLF/WOOLF in the 1870 or 1880 censuses of Philadelphia is the second wife of Thomas J. WOOLF, husband of Ellen's late daughter.  Samuel W. McCULLY appears to be Samuel F. McCULLY, who has a wife, Evelina, and with whom Abraham ROSE, husband of Amanda (BRODHEAD) ROSE, is living in 1860.  Is Susan [Susanna? Susan Anna?] McCULLY actually Anna McCULLY, the mentally impaired daughter of Samuel & Evelina McCULLY?  There's a Sarah A. (ROSE) LORD who may be the one mentioned in the will; this Sarah was divorced, which may be the reason Ellen singled her out.
