Jacob Decatur STROUP
Dorcas Burke DeFRIESE
Please Note:  Our subject is often given parents Adam & Jane (PEELER) STROUP, no doubt because they did have a son, Jacob STROUP, born 1828/9 in SC.  However, that Jacob STROUP married Elizabeth HARRIS

Our subject does appear to have a secure paper connection to his alleged father, Jacob STROUP II.  However, descendants of Jacob II have been Y-DNA tested — on lines descended from four different sons — and they are all Haplogroup J2, while our subject's tested patrilineal line male descendant is Haplogroup R1b, making a connection in genealogical time impossible.  It appears our subject's tested descendant has an NPE in his patrilineal line.  I call upon other patrilineal line male descendants of Jacob Decatur to join the STRAUB Y-DNA Surname Project and be tested to help determine in which generation the NPE occurred.
