George STROUP
Ruhamah PECKHAM
Husband:  George STROUP
Birth:  1803, DE
Death:  1843, presumably in Delaware Co., NY

If George was born in the state of Delaware, then he almost has to be the son of these parents (the only STROUP couple in Delaware in the 1800 census and the only STROUP couple old enough to be George's parents in Delaware in the 1810 census):
Father probablyUriah STROUP
Mother probablySarah [TAPPIN?]
Given the rarity of the given name, Uriah, among STROUPs, and its occurence in these families, not to mention the rarity of STROUPs in Delaware, the connection is not hard to buy.  And although the generations of this family appears to have been strewn between New York, New Jersey, and Delaware, the significant point is that all the locations are on the Delaware River — which probably means that, ultimately, they are all descendants of the 1710 immigrant, Johannes STRAUB.

Marriage said to be:  1824
Wife:  Ruhamah PECKHAM
Birth:  1802/3
Death:  1880
Other Spouse:  m1. Mr. AUSTIN
Father:  Prince PECKHAM (1746-1833)
Mother:  Sarah AUSTIN (1747-1825)

In scripture, Ruhamah was the daughter of Hosea (Hos. 2.1); the name means "compassionate"; other spellings are phonetic misspellings or outright misreadings.

Children :
It appears John may be the son of a prior marriage of George's, but more likely from Ruhamah's prior marriage, which would mean John's biological father may have been an AUSTIN.
