Obituary: Pearle B. Stroup
July 7, 1912 -- May 16, 2003

Pearle B. Stroup, 90, of Pear Road, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 5:10 p.m. Friday, May 16, in Memorial Hospital after a short illness.  Mrs. Stroup was born on July 7, 1912, in Crumstown, Ind., and was a lifetime resident of the Michiana area. On Jan. 30, 1937, in Plymouth, Ind., as Pearle B. Kelver, she married Donald D. Stroup, who preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 1986.  She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Darren D. Cooper on July 14, 1998, and Jacqulyn Kay Barkes on June 23, 1977; and by two brothers, Horace Kelver and Melvin Kelver; and a sister, Adah Van Dale.  Mrs. Stroup is survived by two daughters, Rebecca A. (Dean) Cooper and Belinda M. (Richard) Carlin, both of South Bend; a son, Bruce A. (Sandra) Stroup of South Bend; a sister, Inez Hullinger of Niles, Mich.; and by nine grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren, whom she loved and cherished.  Pearle was not only a homemaker, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who always put her family first with the deepest of love.  She will not only be missed by her loving family, she will be missed by numerous friends she made in her life journey and all her church family in the Lydick area.  Pearle was a member of the Eastern Star New Carlisle Chapter and was a member of the Lydick United Methodist Church.

Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep,
I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on the ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry: I am not there, I did not die.
Visitation hours will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, in the Hanley and Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home located at West Ireland Road, Indiana 23, South Bend.  Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, in the funeral home.  The family request that all memorial contributions be made to: Hospice House of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.  The Hanley and Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and services and extend deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Stroup family.
