Carey Daniel Stroup

Carey Daniel Stroup, 81, of Big Bass Lake, formerly of the Fort Wayne/Columbia City, Ind. area, died Wednesday, March 31, 1999 at West Shore Hospital in Manistee.  He was born July 18, 1917, in Blackford County, Ind., son of Jacob and Ida Alta (Kester) Stroup.

A retired Lt. Colonel from the U.S. Army, he had served under General Patton during WWII.  In 1979, he retired from IMCO in Huntington, Ind., where he was a mechanical engineer.  Carey enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. 

Carey is survived by: his wife, Betty J. Carey of Big Bass Lake; three children... three step-children... two grandchildren; three step- grandchildren; his ex-wife, Theodora Miller of Homer, Alaska...

He was preceded in death by: his parents; four brothers and two sisters
Cremation has taken place, and memorial services will be held at a later date. The Terwilliger Funeral Home, in Kaleva, is in charge of arrangements. 
Memorial contributions may be made to Michigan Special Olympics.  Envelopes are available at the Terwilliger Funeral Home.
