2.  1850 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com):  in Pittsburgh (Ward 4), Allegheny Co., PA (Roll M432_745, p. 210B), there is an Emma L. FORCUM (æ 8, b. PA) living with her parents, William FORCUM (æ 31, b. DE, manufacturer of white and red lead) and his wife, Louisa (æ 32, b. PA), plus three sisters, Mary E. (5), Arabella (3), Matilda (5m).

2.  1870 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com, Image #2 of 34):  Pittsburgh P.O., Pittsburgh (Ward 23), Allegheny Co., PA, Roll M593_1298, p. 226A, PN 13, 19/19, enumerated 26 Aug 1870, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1870 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):¤•

______ Samuel  5 M W At home     Penna
______ John  3 M W At home     Penna

Although it appears from this record that the three children are Wilson & Anne's, the 1880 census indicates they are step-children surnamed NOBLE, presumably from a prior marriage of the now deceased Anne, in which case, Wilson & Anne would have only recently have been married in 1870.  Here's where you really tear your hair that PA didn't institute county marriage licenses until the 1900s, because we really need the marriage records here!

3.  1880 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com, Image #47 of 66):  Second Avenue, Pittsburgh (Ward 14), Allegheny Co., PA, Roll T9_1093 (Book 1), p. 134C, PN 47, SD 9, ED 131, enumerated 10 Jun 1880, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1880 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):¤•

This record doesn't make sense, unless the three "NOBLE" children were Anne's from a prior marriage and she is now deceased.  Or unless the use of the NOBLE surname was enumerator error.

Pension applications often contain valuable genealogical information, so it would be well worth obtaining both Wilson's application for an Invalid's pension and Emma's application for a Widow's pension (from the National Archives).  Most pension applications have the applicant list the names and birthdates of their children and all spouses, so the applications should clear any confusion over Wilson's children.
