William STROOP II
Anna Maria HATZENBUHLER
Husband:  William STROOP / STROUP II
Birth:  10 Mar 1743, PA
Death:  1816-18, Shenandoah Co., VA
Father:  Wilhelm STRUB, a.k.a., William STROOP I
Mother:  Maria Elisabetha __?__
Marriage:
Wife:  Anna Maria HATZENBUHLER / HOTZENBELLA / HOTSINPELLER / HOTSINPILLER
Birth:  ca. 1747
Death:  1818-20, Shenandoah Co., VA
Father:  Stephen HATZENBUHLER (1714-1776) of Germany
Mother:  Elizabeth BRUMBACH / BRUMBACK (1715- ) of Virginia
Children:
— born in Berkeley Co., VA [now WV]:
1.  Elizabeth STROOP, b. 1771/2 — settled in Ross Co., OH
2.  Henry STROOP, b. 1775/6 — settled in Highland Co., OH

— born in Berkeley Co., VA [now WV] or Shenandoah Co., VA:
3.  Sarah "Sally" STROOP, b. 1780-84 — stayed in Shenandoah Co., VA
4.  Mary STROOP, b. 1781/2 — settled in Highland Co., OH
5.  Jacob STROOP, b. 1783/4 — settled in Highland Co., OH
6.  Catharine STROOP, b. 1784-94 — not born in 1805; m. 1825, Jonathan MOORE; settled in ?
7.  George STROOP, b. 1790-94 — stayed in Shenandoah Co., VA

Catharine's birth year is given/estimated as 1805, presumably because her marriage year is solidly documented at 1825, but such a birth year raises serious questions.  No woman who bore a child in 1772 could possibly still be bearing children after 1800 or even after 1795, and the 1810 Census shows no child in their household born later than 1794.

1810 VA Shenandoah Co. Roll M252_71 p. 187 Ln. 19 William Strupe 00211-00201-00
These data indicate:
No. & Sex Age Class Therefore Born Individuals Inferred
2 males 16-25 1784-1794 = George
= Jacob (b. 1783/4)
1 male 26-44 1765-1784 = Henry (b. 1775/6)
1 male 45 or over in or bef. 1765 = William (b. 1743)
2 females 16-25 1784-1794 = Caroline
= Mary (b. 1781/2)
1 female 45 or over in or bef. 1765 = Anna Maria
The William STROOPE in Frederick County is too young to be our subject, so despite the spelling here, I think this must be our subject, especially as two of his children are on page 190 and, despite their age, the other children do not show up as married heads-of-households, anywhere.  Also, the fact that William left land in Shenandoah County to his heirs in 1816-18 clearly shows he was living in Shenandoah County, not Frederick County.

6.  1820 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #11 of 13; extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):¤•
1820 VA Shenandoah Co. Isabella Furnace Roll M33_138 p. 28/163B Ln. 12 George Stroup 000100-00101-0-100 no slaves
These data indicate:
No. & Sex  Age Class Therefore Born Individuals Inferred
1 male 19-25* 1794-1801 = George
1 female 16-25 1794-1804 = Catharine
1 female 45 or over in or bef. 1775 = Anna Maria (b. ca. 1747)
1 person engaged in agriculture
*In the 1820 Census, the third column is age class 16-18 and the fourth column is age class 16-25; therefore, any individual in column three is duplicated in column four.  By subtracting the number in column three from the number in column four, you can create an age class "19-25."
George is old enough to be married, so the young female may be his wife, but Anna's daughter, Catharine, didn't marry until 1825, so the young female is probably his sister.  Listed next to Anna's son, Henry STROOP.

In a Page Co., VA deed (@4) dated Jun 1833 Henry W. Mauck sold land on the drains of Hawksbill Creek that he had inherited from his mother Sally Stroup [MAUK], who had inherited the land from her father William Stroup.  Sally had received this land in a Shenandoah Co., VA deed dated Oct 1818 (@5) where the land of William Stroop dec'd that had been left to his wife Mary, was divided amongst his heirs.  This deed describes Sally's share of this land as being 35 acres.  The land was located
near the banks of the Hawksbill Creek.

In a Shenandoah Co. deed dated 7 Jul 1828 (@6) David sold land and put up personal property as collateral, for a debt that he owed.  The deed does not describe the land, but states that David's wife Sally was an heir of her father William Stroop.  In another Shenandoah Co. deed dated 7 Nov 1828 David and Sally purchased her sibling's (Henry Stroop and wife Magdalene, George Stroop and wife Elisabeth, Jonathan Moore and wife Catharine Stroop, Jacob Stroop and wife Anna, George Housman and wife Elisabeth Stroop, David Houseman and wife Mary Stroop) share of William Stroop's land (@7).
