Samuel STRAUB / STROUB
Hannah MILLER
Martha SEARCH
WARNING:  the connection to Hannah MILLER is tentative, but if the same Samuel STRAUB didn't marry both women, I can't otherwise account for the second Samuel STRAUB in Marion County.
Husband:  Samuel STRAUB / STROUB
Birth:  1800-1810, presumably in PA
Death apparently:  1840-50
Brother presumablyAndrew S. STRAUB, b. 1797, PA; in Marion Co., OH, by 1822
Father:  Mr. STRAUB
Mother:  Ms. __?__
Marriage-1:  13 Jul 1826, Marion Co., OH
Wife-1:  Hannah MILLER

Note that Samuel's other presumed brother, Joseph STRAUB, married in 1825 in Marion County to Elizabeth MILLER, d/o of Henry MILLER & Ann SHEETS.  They all moved on to De Kalb Co., IN.  Secondary sources do not show Henry & Ann with a daughter, Hannah, but could she have been their daughter?

Other Spouses:  m2. 25 Dec 1849, Fulton Co., IN, Spencer GILL; m3. 15 Nov 1857, Fulton Co., IN, Samuel STUBBS

Could Samuel "STOUT" be our subject?  It must have been a difficult entry to read because the LDS transcribed it "STREET' (see next source).  Or did our subject simply not marry, at all, until 1840?  I need or someone else needs to re-examine the original, or at least the microfilm of it, to see if it could actually be Stroub or Strub.

2.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1830 (Broderbund CD-315):  can't find.  The fact that he is not head-of-household suggests either that he is either a bachelor or a widower, so is living in a household where some other male was enumerated as the head-of-household.

3.  1840 Census Index and Digital Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #1-2 of 4; extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):

These data indicate:
No. & Sex Age Class Therefore Born Individuals Inferred
1 male 30-39 1800-1810 = Samuel
1 female 20-29 1810-1820 = Martha (b. 1814)
1 person engaged in commerce
Listed next to Samuel's presumed brother, Andrew S. STRAUB, merchant.  The lack of children suggests either Samuel didn't have a prior wife or she died with no surviving children.

4a.  1850 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com, Image #12 of 15):  Wayne Twp., Fulton Co., IN, Roll M432_146, p. 453B, 89/89, enumerated 10 Sep 1850, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1850 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):

Some have taken the "Do" after Martha to be a middle initial.  It is not.  "Do" is an abbreviation for "ditto."  Silas's middle initial should be "M."  Where is Albert?
