| Some sources say our subjects had this daughter, who married John Jacob
Peter STECKER:
1. Emeline/Emaline/Emiline/Emmaline Savilla STRAUB, b. 16 Nov 1824, Bloomsburg, Columbia Co., PA But censuses show that the Emeline STRAUB who married J.J.P. STECKER was born in 1828/29, and most sources give her parents as C. Adam STRAUB & Mary GRUBER — C. Adam being a brother of our subject. There appears to be an association between Emeline and the family C. Adam & Mary (GRUBER) STRAUB, as they moved, first, to St. Joseph Co., MI, then to Minnesota, but that association could as likely be because she is an orphaned niece as it is because she's their daughter. On the other hand, I can't find so much as a census record for John Peter STRAUB to even prove he existed. So where did the idea come from that he is Emeline's father? Or were their two Emeline's? And where did the idea come from that either Emeline had the middle name, "Savilla"? |
