11.  Obituary: Albert B. STRAUB. Galesburg Evening Mail (online in a file at WorldConnect.com):
Straub-Albert B. died yesterday morning in the hospital connected with the soldiers home in Quincy.  Remains were brought to Galesburg last night and funeral held from First Baptist Church this afternoon.  The deceased was formerly depot master for CBQ railroad in Galesburg.  When he began to decline rapidly after leaving his position.  He was a son of John & Dorothy Straub and born in Adams County, IL, April 22, 1842.  He grew to manhood there on the family farm and when civil war broke out he enlisted in the Union Army and served four years.  Returning to Adams County at the close of the war, married February 28, 1866 to Elizabeth Weidenhamer.  He worked about for a time and finally went into the grocery business at Fowler.  After ten years he removed to Galesburg and entered the employ of CBQ, as a brakeman.  After five years he was made depot master.  Two years ago he left their employ and since has been unable to work.  In 1861 Albert enlisted in Co. C 50th Inft. organized at Quincy, IL.  From the rank of private he rose to First Sgt. Member GAR and also Oak Leaf Camp MWA.  His widow and several children, all of whom reside in Galesburg, Mrs. L.J. Burke, Mrs. J.B. Stout, Ed., Will, Roy, John, Peach, and Arther Straub.  Short services at the home on Knoxville Road.  Remains taken to Baptist Church, Rev. W.H. Geistwelt, pastor officiated. Post GAR attended in a body and conducted ritual at grave side.  Remains interred at Linwood Cemetery, Mon, June 7, 1897.
